What an experience. Working for a company that at one time was great. And as the result of many changes it died a slow painful death. But I have to say I learned retail.
How I became Creative Director.
I had more experience then any of the designers they had on staff and new the difference between a concept and a design. Plus as an art director I had been managing people and projects for quite awhile.
Yes it was me that picked the orange to be the color. There wasn’t a lot of choice. Circuit City was red. Best Buy was blue/yellow. I also restructured the creative department and got it to work better. I also used my hands on approach to lead a group of creatives to do a lot of work under some very unrealistic deadlines.
We did all of the TV. Here’s a couple of the spots we did.
We did tons of print: catalogs, sales promotions,in-store posters.
We redesigned the inside of stores:
After the company had been sold the new owners hired me back because they had no idea how to do anything. Most everyone had been laid off. All of the designers were gone so I really did a lot of hands on work. Happy to show you, just give a call.
